Unibet is a hugely experienced online casino that oozes class and confidence. From the moment you register, you get the impression that this is a team that knows exactly what they’re doing. You’d be right too. As one of the most longstanding and internationally renowned online casino brands in the world, they have a wealth of expertise to call upon. They’ve furthered their reputation in 2017 too by becoming the shirt sponsor of English football giants and 1982 European Champions Aston Villa, the beautifully named club that those in the know credit with effectively inventing league football as we know. It’s another string to Unibet’s bow (and I bet you can’t guess which football team I support). I promised that no bias will infect my judgement during this review.
What Does Unibet Look Like?
Unibet’s log is one of the most recognisable in the industry. I features six circular green spheres, each containing a different letter of the casino’s name arranged at jaunty angles. The green theme is extended throughout the Unibet website too. It’s a slick platform, which also functions as a sports book, bingo and poker site. They’ve incorporated some lovely design touches into the desktop site as well. The My Account section is accessible from the top, and if you click on the small arrow next to the avatar, a little tab pops down containing your bank balance, a link to your message inbox and information about your bonuses. There are several examples of nice functionality that’s been designed effectively. That’s just one of them. Players love the Unibet’s layout, you can find plenty comments from them staying as much. We’re part of the fan club too.
They have also produced a welcome video, which is available in the ‘Getting Started’ section of the site. The video provides a ‘screen share’ style run through of all the different function of the Unibet website. It’s only a couple of minutes long and well recorded. It’s a useful little exercise, and they’re recorded other videos too, including tutorials for all the different types of gaming they host. There aren’t many online casinos that make better use of video, it’s an easy win and adds to the slick, professional appearance of the casino. The games grid looks similarly good. The games are arranged in rows of five with four smaller thumbnails alongside one larger ‘featured’ game. The grid looks spacious and uncluttered, providing a perfectly inviting introduction to a vast collection of games.
Is Unibet Easy to Use?
We always pose this question in our reviews. And in this case, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’. We’ll start, as ever, from the beginning. The Unibet registration process is straightforward and easy. You proceed through four pages in total, but each is very short. They have also made more good use of a ‘drop down’ tab, this time to let you select your welcome bonus. The casino bonus is excellent and we wouldn’t look any further. But there are sports, bingo and poker bonuses as well should you prefer one of those. Once registered, you can explore the site using a couple of top menus. The first (and the one at the very top) lets you toggle between the sports book, casino, live casino, arcade games (and scratchcards), bingo and poker. When you’ve made your selection, another menu appears a bit lower down and you can use that to navigate between the different functions of that section.
The online casino looks great, as we mentioned already. The number of ‘likes’ each game has received is displayed under the thumbnail, which provides a nice visual representation of the various slots’ popularity. You can see your own ‘Last Played’ and ‘Favourites’ above the grid and explore different games like jackpots, video poker and table games. Slots are the main currency here though and there are loads of them to play. You can filter the games by theme to trim down the selection. There’s also a handy summary showing the countdown to and progress of Unibet’s latest tournaments towards the right hand side of the page. Above that there’s a promotions summary. They’ve basically thought of everything! When you come to deposit, they also very clearly display the fees and minimum deposit amounts for each deposit type. It’s not the widest selection of deposit methods we have ever seen, but perhaps that allows them to speed up deposit and withdrawal times, which are generally impressive (just 12 hours or so pending time in our experience, but often sooner).
Which Games Can You Play at Unibet?
Unibet’s longevity has also allowed the team to strike up partnerships with most of the best game developers in the industry. They host a humongous selection of NetEnt games for starters. You’ll struggle to find on that isn’t there. They tend to offer their free spins on NetEnt games more than any other too. There’s still lots of choice from elsewhere too though. You’ll find a huge MicroGaming selection, plenty from IGT, Play N’ Go, Quickspin and Thunderkick (there are some of our very favourites among that lot). Further down the list, there are games from lesser known lights such as Jadestone and Push Gaming. There’s plenty to keep you interested. Plus, if you want more than just slots, then you’re well looked after. There’s one of the largest collection of keno, scratchcards and arcade games that you’ll find at any online casino. That’s before we even get on to the sports book, bingo or poker.
Unibet also hosts one of the slickest and most complete live casinos that you’re likely to play. So, if you like your action beamed in from a real life, bricks and mortar casino, look no further. There’s even a live casino welcome bonus. We’re slots fans first and foremost though here at 777 Casino, and that’s where we spend most of our time at Unibet. We do mozy on over to the jackpot area frequently as part of that. You’ll find most of the very best progressive jackpot slots there, including Mega Moolah and Mega Fortune. They’ve even arranged them in order starting with the biggest current jackpot available (the clever layout touches just keep coming). It’s one of the most substantial and clearly designed jackpot sections I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a few I can tell you). The Unibet games collection is great for browsing. We’d just like to see a few more filtering options, especially one which allows you to trim the selection down by provider.
The Unibet Welcome Bonus
Some of the other well established gaming sites can skimp a bit on their welcome bonus. Or at least simplify it, so that it’s nothing more than a 100% cash bonus with your first deposit, for example. Not so Unibet. There’s a bit of a beast. It all starts with 10 no deposit free spins upon registration and proceeds though a large first deposit bonus featuring a cash match (plus a little bit more) bonus and a big bouncing bundle of free spins.
When I say cash match (plus a little bit more), I’m referring to the 200% first deposit bonus. Although they do exist as part of welcome bonus packages, most casinos are inclined to offer a straightforward 100% bonus and nothing more. Unibet isn’t your average casino though. The 200% bonus effectively triples your first deposit, remember. So, if you deposit the minimum amount of £10, you’ll get £20 back in bonus cash, leaving you £30 to play with. Deposit £100 and you’ll receive a £200 bonus, which is also the maximum bonus amount on offer.
On top of the cash bonus, Unibet also provide up to 190free spins when you make that first deposit. The number of free spins you receive depends on the amount of money you’re prepared to hand over. A deposit between £10-£49.99 will secure 40 free spins (that’s generous in itself), while £50-£74.99 earns you 90 free spins. Deposit £75-£99.99 for 140 free spins and £100 or more for the full 190 free spins. On top of your 10 no deposit free spins, that’s 200 free spins overall. Wagering requirements of x25 apply.
Why Become a Regular Player at Unibet?
This is one slick online casino, we’ve already established that. We love the layout and usability of the site, and we’re not alone there either. We know lots of players who enjoy Unibet because of its intuitive design, and a bit of Googling will find you plenty more. You can also point to the games selection, fast withdrawals, reputation for excellent bonuses and fine taste in football teams (not that I’d mention the latter). Above all else though, this is a site you can trust. Customer service is not only friendly but available around the clock, and that includes live chat. Unibet is also licensed by both the UK Gambling Commission and Malta Gaming Authority. They won’t have mixed a trick between them, so you can rest assured knowing that the security and safety of the Unibet site has stood up to the strictest levels of scrutiny.
The Unibet Mobile Casino
Unibet have transferred their expertise to the smaller screen by creating a fully optimised mobile casino that will work well with a variety of devices. I was surprised to find that the homepage can occasionally take a little time to load all icons (given that I expect everything on this site to be 100% slick) but that aside, the casino worked like a dream on my little Android smart phone. You can shift between the different functions of the site using a helpful ‘burger’ menu and the games grid is accessible from the homepage. The game thumbnails are arranged in two columns rather than the snazzy format found on the desktop site, but that’s the reality of space. Most importantly, you don’t have to scroll horizontally to open everything up. I hate it when you have have to do that at any site.
Given that they’ve partnered with so many leading game developers, Unibet’s games catalogue is also in good hands. NetEnt, MicroGaming, Quickpsin and co all release their latest online slots across multiple markets. The speed at which the iPad/iPhone and Android casino market continues to grow ensures that’s a necessity. You also have a huge amount of general functionality at Unibet if you choose to play from your smart phone. They’ve incorporated a full cashier system, the promotions page (most bonuses are available to mobile users too) and the handy help section. They don’t appear to support live chat though, which is massively disappointing given the quality of the casino.
Our Verdict on Unibet
I’ve finished the review on a bit of a negative there, but luckily I have little or no cause to list many others. This is one of the smartest and best designed online casinos currently in operation. They’ve got a huge games collection, sizeable welcome bonus and excellent track record for security and safety. Unibet doesn’t have an overriding theme, adventurous attitude or mass of gimmicks. But it’s a great example of how a beautifully rendered, easily accessible casino can – with the help of some flourishes here and there – be just as appealing to a whole range of players. I’ve long been a fan and so have many others. If you haven’t tried it yet, now is as good a time as any. 10 no deposit free spins plus both a 200% cash bonus with your first deposit and up to 190 more free spins should make that decision easier.
